Process Modeling Specialist   E01-70010406        

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Company is seeking an Engineering Specialist whom will have proven ability to develop Process Simulation Models of the Companies Oil & Gas Industry and/or Refinery Processes.

• Essential Job Functions: Incumbent will be expected to analyze and reconcile Data and develop process models in HYSYS and/or PROII and/or Aspen Plus. Incumbent will be requested frequently to develop Reactor Models using AspenTech Technology and/or integrated models in RefSys will be an advantage. In support of the Companies strategy to integrate engineering and business software, will be required to develop LP Planning models from time to time. Should be able to use these models to support Design Studies, Debottleneck Studies, and PIMS Planning Models. Incumbent will be required to convert steady state models to dynamic models. Will be asked to provide technical support to resolve difficult simulation problems that process engineers in the plants or in central engineering have difficulty with. The candidate will represent the Company and publish his work at internationally recognized conferences.

SELECTION CRITERIA: MS degree in Chemical Engineering with 7-10 years experience using Process Simulation as part of his day to day work, with detailed knowledge of one or more Process Simulator (HYSYS preferred) . Incumbent should have extensive knowledge (5 to 10 years) of either the Oil & Gas Industry and/or Refinery. Should be able to carry out technology evaluation studies and make recommendations to Management on technology selection. Knowledge of LP Planning Techniques is preferred. It is a plus if knowledgeable with pipelines simulation such as Pipephase, Olga, or Stoner. Incumbent must have excellent written and verbal English skills with experience in developing standards and technical reports. Incumbent should possess excellent computer skills. The role: Saudi Aramco Oil Supply & Planning Department (OSPAS) is looking for a dynamic refinery planning engineer to work in the general area of refinery planning with specific emphasis on developing short-term, medium-term and long-term plans.  Also required will be updating and maintaining the linear program (LP) models and providing ad hoc analysis using the LP models.

    Review the accuracy of the LP models for each refinery on a monthly basis by performing model reconciliation and backcasting analysis.  This will require trips to each refinery to work with refinery engineers.

    Work on ad hoc studies when they arise by running the LP models.

    Develop and modify planning reports written in Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

        Minimum Requirements: BS in Chemical Engineering

Experience: 10 or more years of refining experience. 7 or more years refinery planning experience using Aspentech PIMS.  Experience with Microsoft Excel and the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: BS Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 10 years in advance process control (APC) with sound understanding of oil and gas processes. BASIC FUNCTION Acting as the primary interface for the coordinators related to various Saudi Aramco joint ventures, the company's petrochemical group and other relevant Aramco organizations, this challenging position will assume a key role in the proposed Center of Petrochemical Excellence at Saudi Aramco. The position is a middle management position reporting directly to the Director of Joint Venture Coordination Department (JVC).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES Identifies overlaps and proactively manages optimization activities across Saudi Aramco joint ventures that have a petrochemical element. Understands refinery inter linkages with petrochemicals and becomes the main interface with in-house and external refinery experts to support current and proposed joint venture chemical operations. Well conversant with the appropriate sources to secure market intelligence and technical data for various chemical businesses. Will lead efforts to develop and maintains a knowledge reservoir for petrochemical group. SCOPE Working independently and with considerable latitude with only general guidelines from the Director of JVD&SD, is responsible for directing joint venture support activities globally. Gives work direction for three senior consultants and sets priorities for two specialists. Interprets, parses and sets deliverables to meet internal and joint venture company needs with respect to marketing, investment analysis and technical aspects of joint ventures petrochemical portfolio. Interfaces with refinery team personnel as required providing a complete work product. Serves as one of the core individuals for building Aramco's center for petrochemicals excellence through continual monitoring of chemical industry developments and interface with key industry players. The candidate will play a leading role in providing supports to the process engineering and technical services functions related to the field of clean fuel development program. This includes performing process design, feasibility and optimization studies, evaluate application of new technologies and best practices, define scope for the plant and hardware modifications, and participate in selecting process licensor and catalyst vendor to fulfill the requirements as stated in the clean fuel development program. SELECTION CRITERIA: B.S. in Chemical Engineering with minimum 10 years experience in the petroleum refining industries. This includes thorough knowledge and experience in the Crude & Vacuum Distillation, Fuel Gas Treating, Naphtha/Kerosene/Diesel Hydrotreating units. Exposure of hydroprocessing such as hydrocracker or cat cracker and other separation process such as solvent deasphalting and asphalt blowing is desirable. Knowledge of clean fuel development program being implemented worldwide is essential. Experience includes performing process engineering, carrying out various feasibility, debottlenecking and optimization studies to mitigate challenges associated with the refining business. Sufficient experience related to capital project implementation is essential. SELECTION CRITERIA: The incumbent of this position must have a BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of continuously progressive engineering experience of which 8 years experience in corrosion monitoring and control activities. The incumbent shall: Holds API 510, API570, AWS, RBI, Coating, NDT and any other Certificates related to Inspection are Preference. Has sound knowledge of international codes/standards applicable to inspection (ASTM, API, ASME, TEMA, NACE, ANSI, etc,). Has thorough knowledge of various forms of corrosion and their identification along with monitoring and mitigation methods. Has through knowledge in refinery processes is required. Also, experience in chemical inhibitors treatment, cathodic protection, material selection and coating protection is required. Has excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). Be able to work independently in a new work situation and guide/train local assistant inspectors. He is required to perform full range of electrical equipment inspection functions specific to an assigned unit or in a branch of inspection function. Responsibilities shall include: Verify, inspect and witness ground installations on tanks, equipments and non process area's and recommend corrective actions. Verify inspect & witness general area/street/plant lighting and report any findings and recommend corrective actions. Verify, inspect and witness installation of all cable trays, underground cables, conduits, wire ways and recommend corrective actions for any findings. Issue inspection worksheets to report any findings and follow up on the execution of the findings. Coordinate with area inspectors on all outstanding activities. Prepare monthly reports on electrical works activities. Monitor electrical work on a project and prepare exception item list for contractor to comply prior with acceptance of mechanical completion. Review drawing design packaged submittals. Ensure that all records, files and database are updated with all inspection work sheets, findings and status of repair. SELECTION CRITERIA: The incumbent shall hold B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years in refining or similar process industry as Electrical Inspector. The incumbent shall: Hold National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) certification and any other related certification. Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code / NFPA 70, I.EC ANSI, NEMA or equivalent standards. Have a thorough knowledge of all types of electrical installations including materials, methods, specifications, packaged units and hazardous location identification for the oil and gas or petrochemical industries. Have documented experience in the field of Cathodic Protection and be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of international codes and standards, NACE or equivalent and be able to inspect CP systems and its related components namely rectifiers, anode beds, cable installations and be able to interpret survey reports. Inspectors shall demonstrate the ability to read engineering drawings, trouble shoot problems and review design packages to meet all relevant engineering requirements.

Must be qualified to the requirements of the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspection Codes or holds current certifications in both API 510 and 570. Must meet the requirements for certification to ASNT SNT TC-1A1 Level II or equivalent in liquid penetrant, magnetic particles, and U/T examinations and possess CWI certification form AWS.
