Senior Mining Consultant

This is a new role located in spectacularly beautiful West Coast region of the South Island of New Zealand. The position is with Australasian listed mining company which has a new mine that has just commenced commercial production. The mine contains some of the lowest sulfur coking coal available and the company has excellent supply contracts with international steel manufacturers.
The company has a geologically complex and interesting mine on the West Coast. They have constructed a 2.3 km long tunnel into a mountain range to get to the main coal seam and have since found three more seams underlying the original seam, thus extending the mine’s life beyond 30 years. The company has its own coal beneficiation plant and will rail coal through the Southern Alps to the port of Lyttelton in Christchurch on the east coast of the South Island where I am located.


The role will report to the Technical Services Manager and will be part of an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced team. You`ll work on a wide range of technical mining activities providing geotechnical information to both planning and operational personnel and ensuring compliance to geotechnical standards and mining regulations.

You should have at least 4 - 6 years of geotechnical experience in underground coal mines and have strong interpersonal skills and an energetic outlook. You must have highly fluent written and spoken English language skills to be considered.

We are searching for people who can prepare reports, analysis, and studies of risks and for investing on behalf of the U.S. clients in emerging or frontier markets. Successful candidates will be expected to serve in both team and solo environments in a number of possible capacities, including deal sourcing, company analysis and evaluation, performing due diligence, evaluating technology advantages and sustainability, assessing technology commercialization potential, preparing industry and country studies, providing market analyses, etc. Much of this activity will be in emerging markets of Asian and Middle Eastern countries.

The right candidate will spend 2 years domestically working from their home and then will be given an ex-pat package in their respective geographies. Once an individual moves to their respective territories they will be given an equity position in the company.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate
1. The ideal candidate has investment experience in emerging Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
2. Candidates may have worked for a private equity firm, mutual fund or investment bank involved with investment in/or acquisition of public and private corporations.
3. Candidates must be willing to live or work in the countries of their expertise.
4. Academic background (graduate and/or post-graduate degrees) in technical and/or business fields – for example, engineering, computer science, or telecommunications with a business minor.
5. Ten or more years of work experience, ideally with technology-based products, sales or services. Experience in multiple industries is a plus.
6. Should be comfortable working in an unsupervised environment and be entrepreneurial.

This is a permanent full-time, NOT contract, family-status assignment base in the beautiful city of Brisbane, Australia (1MM+ population) located in the State of Queensland near the "Gold Coast" coastal resort area (similar to a combination of Miami, Florida and Las Vegas).

Refining / Petrochemical Advisor

Overseas HQ Location in Middle Eastern Country

$125000 - $200000 Base salary range


The Corp.  is seeking an engineering specialist with extensive experience in petrochemical processes, to serve as the company technical authority in the challenging areas of full conversion refinery integrated with petrochemicals related processes and construction of new petrochemicals complexes. The candidate must hold a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and operation of petrochemicals facilities, and in the latest technologies in production of primary refinery derived petrochemicals feed stocks (Ethylene, Propylene and/or Aromatics). Typical job responsibilities will include proposal of preliminary designs for new process facilities, catalyst and additives evaluation, troubleshooting of existing facilities, optimization of existing operations, and introduction of new technology to improve profitability and meet strategic objectives. This specialist will work with a large group of refining specialists providing support to the Corp's refining/petrochemicals facilities and technology program. 

       

Minimum Experience:

1. Extensive design and operating experience in petrochemicals and production of clean fuels.
2. Supports and troubleshoots petrochemicals facilities reviews and scopes new capital projects as well as retrofits and process modifications.
3. Monitors catalyst performance, regeneration and change out. Utilizes the latest technologies in recommending new generations of catalysts to improve products quality.
4. Coaches and mentors young refining engineers.
5. Possess excellent computer skills as well as excellent oral/written presentation skills.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The foremost technical authority in petrochemicals related processes.
2. Troubleshoots petrochemicals facilities operations, reviews and recommends changes to operating conditions, changes to unit configuration, retrofits, to improve products quality and yield.
3. Monitors catalyst performance and recommends changes to improve yield.
4. Carries out catalyst and additives studies and recommends new products to improve quality and marketability.
5. Reviews long range trends in refining and petrochemicals, and applies new technologies to improve fuels quality and refinery margins.
6. Teaches course on petrochemicals to young engineers.
7. Mentors young refining engineers and develop them into future refining/petrochemicals specialists.
