Engineering Manager

Reporting to the Site Manager this individual will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the project while ensuring that the project is under or on budget, on schedule, and that specifications are being adhered to in a safe manner. This position provides computer aided design (CAD) detail drafting support to process design, new equipment installation and building modifications as well as standard support of engineering and maintenance activities within a large chemical manufacturing facility. Engineering disciplines supported may include civil, structural, architectural, electrical, instrumentation and process (equipment & piping). This position works with a multi-discipline team and will have contact with engineering groups and IT as well as external suppliers and contractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Provide CAD support to engineering and maintenance functions. Prepares and revises computer generated 2-D engineering drawings and 3-D models according to established standards and procedures in software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Speedikon and PDS systems.  Create and revise equipment layout, piping, electrical and instrumentation, mechanical, civil, structural and architectural drawings and models.  Creates and revises drawings and models from sketches, plans, and written and verbal instructions.  Manage high volume of drawing revisions manage red-line system and verify all associated items are updated throughout the drawing set. REQUIREMENTS: AA or BS degree in engineering or computer aided drafting/design or related field preferred 3+ years combined of 2-D and 3-D model computer aided drafting/design experience with software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Speedikon or PDS 3D modeling. Experience with COMOS is a plus. 3+ years of experience working with engineering, procurement and construction projects and/or large chemical manufacturing facility preferred with multiple disciplines (e.g. CSA, EIC, or Process).  Excellent written and communication skills required, including the ability to effectively respond to team members with tact and diplomacy.  Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple projects at the same time. Corporate Logistics Director

Direct and manage the Corporate Transportation Team responsible for Company Compliance with DOT and FRA, negotiating terms with rail and truck carriers, meeting customer requirements and communicating with transportation vendors. Responsibilities: Identify synergies within the organization that will optimize carrier and rail lane costs and manage an annual budget of $250 million.  Develop and implement cost savings processes that will maximize lane utilization and reduce back office transportation costs. Develop monthly scorecard on key logistics metrics and distribute to management and vendors. Optimize rail car fleet that will meet all company and customer service requirements without duplication or extra demurrage costs. Negotiate major carrier contracts and rail contracts. This includes fuel surcharge, demurrage, and other accessory costs related to Logistics.


This individual must be capable of leveraging the total transportation spend to achieve the lowest cost with high service.   Optimize JDE segment related to Transportation so data is accurate and usable. Eliminate any duplicate activities being used as a workaround because of JDE issues.  Must be capable of working across the organization to bring more efficiency to the transportation services and increase overall product margins. Provide superior service to transportation's customers (internal and external) and minimize issues related to transportation.  Manage the overall Transportation Compliance Program as it relates to the DOT and FRA. Must manage the Corporate Transportation Department consisting of approximately 8 employees and manage the site transportation objectives which report to the Plant Managers. Develop contingencies for times when contract carriers are not available. Implement as necessary to achieve target customer service requirements. Utilize efficiency tools (ex. six sigma) to increase process efficiency and eliminate non value added processes and costs.  Identify and implement BIC transportation practices.  Develop departmental talent to achieve higher productivity and efficiency

Requirements:  Bachelor's Degree is required - with an extensive background in Transportation Management that includes Tanker Trucks-liquid bulk and drums and Liquid tanks for rail cars.  US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status is required.  Experience with a minimum of a $150 million transportation budget.  Demonstrated track record of transportation cost efficiency and successful vendor negotiations. Experience in integrating acquisitions on the transportation side.  Must have very strong and effective influencing skills and capable of gaining consensus. Must be able to effectively and efficiently navigate across the organization.  Must be a subject matter expert on transportation (both rail and truck) and on DOT and FRA compliance.  Must be an effective negotiator capable of winning concessions from the various vendors and an effective manager both with the transportation discipline and people.
