This position is responsible for overseeing the management of engineering disciplines whose mission is to provide the engineering and design of new plants, infrastructure facilities, general plant design engineering support and major expansion of existing plants. In partnership with the Project Manager, mediates the cooperation of the engineering disciplines and prioritizes the arising tasks referring to engineering during the entire project. Large Capital Projects Director

$185,000 - $200,000

This position manages large capital project and turnaround support services functions ACROSS NA Region, which are responsible for the cost estimating, engineering quality assurance, risk management, and financial/schedule controlling of mid to large size capital investments and turnarounds throughout North America. This position also provides gate keeping (independent evaluators ensuring quality no how well the project is developed since the study phase and early development) on regional investments submitted to Commission "S", and is a member of the global coordination team responsible for establishing/maintaining the tools, technical rules, and work processes, globally governing these key functions. The purpose of this position is to ensure capital investments are properly planned and effectively executed, in order to meet the Business Unit's safety, cost, schedule, and functionality objectives.

 

Cost Estimating: For all the capital projects and TAR’s – Geismar and Freeport does cost estimating for smaller projects (up to 20M). Corp Engineer provides the subject expertise to Geismar and Freeport and does the cost estimating for those projects below 20M that are considered complex projects.

 

Project Control: For all the capital projects and TAR’S – Geismar and Freeport does it for small projects (up to 20M) – This is responsible for the cost controlling, invoice auditing, forecasting as well as scheduling the activities of the project.

 

Quality: Ensure quality of the Project Management according to global process and procedures for all the Capital Projects in NA.

 

PM Coordinator – Gate Keeper – Ensures the projects are well developed before starting study face and early development up to completion.

 

•                Ensure the effective delivery of cost estimating, project controls, and quality management services for large capital investments and turnarounds in North America.

•                Key contributor to the global PLATES escalation forecasting tool.  Provides input that is critical to enabling accurate forecasting of future equipment, materials, and construction labor costs.

•                Monitor the progress/status of Corporate Engineer projects and provide quality and risk management guidance to Project Teams.

•                Drives continuous improvement and value addition in capital project development, by ensuring the Value Based Engineering process if effectively applied.

•                Technically evaluate the planning of regional medium and large capital investments, in order to help ensure they are properly defined and have a viable project execution plan.

•                Collaborate and interface with counterparts in the Global Engineering organization to globally align the development/enhancements of technical rules, engineering work flows, and engineering tools.

•                Ensure reliable Document Management and Document Control services for the projects and turnarounds executed by Corporate Engineering Services.

•                Benchmark capital project performance and drive continuous improvement in the engineering workflows and in interface management with support functions.

 

The Director has the authority to:

•      Receives only strategic direction from Line Management.  Able to act in a completely independent manner with respect to the day-to-day operations of the department.

•      Authority to put project activities on hold to investigate and/or correct any issues that pose a risk to the Project Team meeting the objectives of a project.

•      Gatekeeping authority to Endorse/Reject regional projects (>15 Mio Euro) under development, before they proceed on to the next phase of engineering.

•      Approve North America and Global Technical Rules related to Project Management and Project Controls

•      Line manager for a large group of engineering professionals

•      Interacts on a daily basis with NCE/E department Director peers to review any issues/concerns associated with ongoing project activities.

•      Meets on a regular basis with various TES Site Engineering Managers and Project Managers to technically review projects under development and provide Functional Leadership.

•      Meets on a bi-weekly basis with Procurement on project equipment and/or services contracting activities.

Lead Electrical Engineer

Join the corporate technical team as the Lead Electrical Engineer, and champion the Electrical/ Power Distribution initiatives for multiple petrochemical plant sites in the US. Requires experience with applying NEC, IEC, GB, NFPA, and API codes and standards to Electrical Engineering Design related projects in Petro/ Chemical Industrial Plants.

Responsibilities:  Strategically manage the development and execution of the electrical / power distribution projects through engineering/ design and construction, while integrating plant personnel to ensure results that meet the needs of the chemical plant sites.  Provides support or leads in the writing of Capital Appropriation Requests, Pre-startup safety reviews (SR's), Management of Change (MOC), and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC). Perform root cause failure analysis when outages or voltage sags occur; Perfect power is essential to meeting safety, environmental and production goals. Qualifications:
  BS Electrical Engineering degree with 8+ years experience with design and troubleshooting medium and high voltage power equipment and increasingly related responsibilities in the electrical engineering design field related to Petro/Chemical Industrial Plants or similar industry required. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status (Green Card) is required. Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time if needed. Experience with applying NEC, IEC, GB, NFPA, and API codes and standards to Electrical Engineering Design related to Petro/Chemical Industrial Plants desired.  PE (Professional Engineer) license or Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification is preferred.  Experience in the management of financial budgets, projects and troubleshooting Industrial environment work experience preferred.  Experience using SAP is desired. Their facility is over $4million in revenue and has about 15 –20 employees who are a combination of Inside Sales, Shop and Field Techs. Their southern California clients are companies like Exxon/Mobil, Phillips, Valero, Tesoro, Fluor, Jacobs, etc.
 
The General Manager will be responsible for the operational and financial development & management of the California business unit. Looking for a person with vision & high level of motivation who can develop goals, implement & manage changes to reach those goals, and motivate, support & develop a team to achieve those goals.  The ideal profile is someone with 10-15 years’ experience with oilfield engineered products who has a strong and proven record of showing top line growth and keeping a company profitable. Definitely wants a self-motivated, forward thinker rather than someone who will just run day-to-day operations.
 
Primary responsibilities include:
 
Planning Administration: Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting the board and staff with the development and implementation of short and long term plans. Develop & prepare progress report on meeting of the short and long term goals (and creates supporting analysis documents & proposals on how to achieve goals as needed). Able to effectively manage change.
 
HR Management: Determine staffing requirements, interview & hire new employees, employee development, performance management and improvement systems, employment & compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting. Direct production activities to ensure safety and compliance with quality control standards, regulatory compliance and lease agreements. Ensure good housekeeping at site at all times.
 
Administrative Management:  Ensure client and vendor file integrity (documents, analytical information, communication notations etc.). Maintain general oversight and ensure accuracy of records (A/R, A/P, Inventory etc.). Assist in development of tools to increase company efficiency and risk management. Monitor businesses/agencies and ensure they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
 
Sales Management: Active involvement in customer satisfaction process. Develops and shapes sales strategy, provides vision and direction for outside sales team as required. Creates measurable goals and implements progress reporting based on goals to communicate with both company sales team and manufacturers/suppliers as needed. Research and develop new opportunities for revenue based on voice of the customer.
 
Work Experience: Minimum of 15 years of related business experience with a track record of successful management of a profitable organization. Direct supervision/management experience a must. Self-starter who can operate with little direct supervision. Ability to work in a team setting, high level of positive motivational skills with strong leadership qualities. Excellent listening skills, with the ability to show empathy when required. Key roles and responsibilities include: Provide planning and scheduling support on multiple investments of various size and complexity from Study, Pre-FEED, FEED and design phase onward. Active participation and development of Schedule Risk Analysis and Interactive Planning sessions. Active participation in the overall planning process, development of detailed schedules for FEL, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phases. Our client is a global growing manufacturer of specialty chemicals used in industrial and consumer products. We are conducting a search to find a contract Project Manager to oversee the design and construction of a 150MM dollar plant expansion for their Delaware manufacturing site.

 

Reporting to the Site Manager this individual will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the project while ensuring that the project is under or on budget, on schedule, and that specifications are being adhered to in a safe manner. This will include: Direct multi discipline engineers in the design of the project Work closely with the Site Manager and design firm to oversee design and maintain the project schedule. Apply design knowledge in chemical plants, especially continuous process, to the process, electrical, instrumentation and controls, mechanical and structural / civil design. Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions. Interact with design engineers, site engineers, and regulatory agencies. Provide insight, guidance, and technical review of engineering and design drawings, specifications; procurement documents, bid evaluations of equipment and systems required to support the contract. Provide insight, guidance, technical review and approval of project documents and submittals.
