Senior Safety Specialist

BS in engineering, chemistry, biology or occupational and health and safety. Minimum of 5 years experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience working at chemical, petrochemical or pharmaceutical facility. CIH or CSP credential or ability to obtain in 1-2 years. The Safety Specialist will coordinate occupational safety and health activities for the facility and facilitate safety program for employees and contractors. Regional EHS Manager

Position is with an international manufacturer that has been in business for almost 90 years, with plants all over the world. This person will have EHS responsibility for three plants with combined employment of approximately 300 people. This person will be located in a facility on the outskirts of South Bend, IN. The other two plants are in OH and TN, so some travel to these two sites will be required. This role reports directly to the Corporate Safety Manager, who is a great guy to work with and a person we have worked with for many years. Safety comprises about 80% of the role and environmental makes up 20%. There is a dotted line relationship to the Corporate Environmental Manager. The preferred candidate will have had multi-plant responsibility, although this is not a hard and fast requirement. This person will be responsible for integrating newly acquired companies into the established corporate safety and environmental system. Acquisition experience would be extremely helpful. Short of that it would be helpful to have had experience writing/developing/putting safety systems in place for a company or companies whose safety systems were clearly lacking. This person will communicate and coordinate EHS activities with other regions to share best practices and leverage resources for common initiatives. A four-year degree is required, along with 10+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. The individual needs to have detailed knowledge (theory and application) of the industrial hygiene disciplines, or capability to develop the same. Basic knowledge of chemical manufacturing is a plus.

Process Safety Director

The Process Safety Director provides global leadership for the development and implementation of process safety management (PSM) systems focused on delivering full regulatory compliance, effective management of process related risks and establishing sustainable performance improvement. Strategically involved in developing and successfully implementing global initiatives to drive PSM and safety cultural change for this petrochemical leader.

 

Lead the process safety management teams to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive integrated management system for process safety consistent with the requirements outlined in OSHA 1910.119 PSM regulations and the guidance elements. Support site operations to drive reductions in process related incidents through root cause incident investigation, effective management of change (MOC), integrated mechanical integrity (MI) & maintenance practices, process hazards analysis and risk assessment methodologies and implementation of appropriate corrective actions.  Accountable for managing the potential business impact of emergent global process safety & loss prevention related regulatory/legislative and RAGAGEP issues; provide early warning and planning guidance to businesses, and site leadership regarding compliance and implications. Lead and direct the development and implementation of process safety, chemical facility standards and management systems assuring the foundation for regulatory compliance, management of risk, training/competency development, program consistency and continual performance improvements. Establish and implement key performance indicators KPI and metrics for process safety & coordinate the regular reporting of these metrics. Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Safety Management with 10+ years progressive experience in Managing process safety, HSE or engineering in the chemical/ petrochemical processing industry is required. Experience in developing and implementing HSE standards, conducting process safety analyses and auditing. Strong working knowledge of OSHA & EPA PSM regulations and compliance requirements. Knowledge and management experience working in US and some experience with global HSE regulations is preferred. Our USA client is a global power generation (IPP) firm with power plants representing a total generation capacity of 7,686 MW. The plants are located in the UK, the Netherlands, Mexico and Australia. Mexican citizens are preferred for this position, but candidates from other countries might be considered. Relocation assistance will be provided. Fluent in Spanish is mandatory.

 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the key purpose of the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental / Quality Supervisor (HSSE) will act as coordinator, supervisor, educator, planner and evaluator of the health, safety, security and environmental / Quality programs. The employee will assist the plant manager to ensure plant compliance on applicable health, safety and environmental regulations, standards and requirements. The position demands deep knowledge of applicable regulatory standards. The successful candidate will assist all employees in health, safety and environmental matters. Collect data and information in order to resolve health, safety and environmental issues. Establish HSSE plans and programs consistent with HSSE policies and requirements. Job Responsibilities: Support Plant Manager in the design and implementation of HSSE policies, procedures, plans and projects. Acts as representative of ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000 systems.
