QUALIFICATIONS: BS Degree in Science, Engineering or related field or 10 or more years experience in a related field. A strong environmental background is required; Title V experience is a plus. Regional Safety Manager - Construction

Provide safety support to a variety of construction sites in a multi-state region to ensure a safe and healthful work environment. Identify safety needs, conduct training, and develop and implement policies and procedures to attain an "Incident Free" work environment.

 

SUMMARY

 

Develop, own and lead regional safety plan, incorporating all elements into site / project specific plans. Track and report on progress, assisting with accountability to the plan Train regional staff in required safety program and compliance training. Participate in regional safety committee, providing technical knowledge and cultural support Develop rapport with area medical clinics and doctors. Responsible for managing Company's Injury management and return to work program including medical visits, recordability of injuries, and workers comp Identify conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses. Develop, recommend, and implement policy and procedure improvement. Assist with client development, bridging of safety programs and support to proposal preparation Responsible for implementation of safety policies on all Company projects, including field audits, and feedback to project and division managers. Train site personnel in safety requirements. QUALIFICATIONS

 

3+ years of experience in safety planning and execution. Knowledge of safety practices in the construction and engineering field. Ability to analyze data and implement strategies to maximize safety. Ability to train and motivate team to focus on safety. Well organized with analytical abilities to determine areas for safety improvement. Equivalent work experience in construction or engineering safety, and/or CHST, ASP or OSHA 500 Certified to train OSHA 10 and 30 hour Experience in Petrochemical, Power, Heavy Industrial preferred ISN experience Construction site environment (commercial, industrial, process plants)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct safety audits of facilities to pinpoint unsafe working conditions and practices and develop sound recommendations for corrections. Maintain weekly and monthly safety performance metrics. Lead the ergonomics initiative by coordinating teams and driving ergonomic improvements. Manage the safety teams and provide them with the data to set initiatives. Lead implementation of the Safety Management System. Experience with OSHA VPP, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, Title V Air Permits required. Must have managerial experience. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Safety Technician is responsible for driving a culture of safety excellence at the refinery. This position will provide leadership and support to allow all departments within the refinery to operate safely, respond to emergencies, and comply with all Federal and State regulations.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: . An associate's degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience.  Applicable safety certifications preferred.  Minimum of two years of directly related experience in an industrial environment, preferably in petroleum refining, petrochemical, or similar industry. . Experience in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, and accident prevention programs. . Leadership experience in fire protection, rescue, and emergency response preferred. . Mining company in Colorado has an opening for a Safety, Health and Security Manager. Safety, Health and Security Manager who will be responsible and accountable for all facets of health, safety and security for the mine site. The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of site safety and security group as well as developing, implementing and sustaining solid safety and health practices for all employees. Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring the site and its employees are in compliance with all federal, state and, where applicable, local safety regulations. This person will also be responsible for site compliance with company Health and Safety programs, processes, SOP's and continuing the Safety Transformation (ST) effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead by example, in all safety and environmental processes, ensuring complete safe operations and meeting the goals of the Health and Safety group.  Provide strategic direction and leadership to the site regarding safety and health initiatives and programs.  Be regularly visible at all safety meetings, as possible, providing guidance and input at each meeting.  Be regularly visible throughout the mine and process sites on a regular basis.  Provide day-to-day direction and effective leadership to the Safety, Health and Security team.  Manage and ensure strict compliance and ethical behavior with state and federal regulations in all areas of operation.


Provide direction and guidance and accompany MSHA during site inspections as necessary.  Partner with Corporate Safety to drive and implement corporate safety initiatives. Work with Corporate legal and other groups when necessary to resolve legal issues. Oversee and provide direction in incident and accident investigations. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting with all investigations. Partner with all Managers and Supervisors in ensuring Health and Safety goals are being achieved. Partner with Human Resources in handling Workers Comp. issues and other health related issues.


Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week with some off shift coverage and shift work. Must also be available for emergency call out and quick response to the mine site in emergencies. Occasional travel required. Education and Training : Must have a four year degree in Safety, Mine Engineering, or related field. MSHA Surface Instructor certified by MSHA necessary. Underground Instructor a plus. Training or education with MSHA regulations and processes preferable.

Qualifications:  Must have 10+ years in the mining industry with surface mining experience. Underground mining and/or precious metals experience a plus.   Thorough experience and knowledge of MSHA regulations and mine safety practices.  Thorough knowledge of mine IH programs and practices, specifically dust and noise.  Five+ years leadership and management experience with Safety and Health professionals.  Knowledge and unwavering dedication to safety and health compliance and principals.

Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.  Proficient in problem solving and strong analytical skills required.  Proficient in the use of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word with experience using computer-based Safety reporting systems.  Must exhibit strong skills in influencing, persuading and motivating individuals or groups to achieve desired outcomes in a professional and morally ethical way. Routinely tours all plants/areas and proactively identifies opportunities to enhance EHS&S efforts and results. Direction of site leadership in best EHS&S practices and continual related process improvement. Provide oversight for 2 Safety Supervisors, 1 Environmental Engineer and 1 Safety Admin and will also direct the sites security contractors (Securitas)

Implementation and maintenance of EHS&S policy and procedures. Sustain and continuously improve the site's EHS&S Management System. Maintain injury/illness records and reports; analyze data for trend identification for exposure elimination, risk reduction and injury prevention.

. Lead Trend Analysis and proposed programs/focus/tool box information to mitigate based on specific opportunities for improvement. Develop and conduct training programs for entire workforce. Develop Industrial Hygiene monitoring program. Conduct EHS&S audits, recommending and assisting in the correction of hazards identified. Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree Environment, Health/Safety related field.  Minimum of 7 year's related experience in a manufacturing plant or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work experience in industrial hygiene, behavioral based safety management systems. Experience conducting Industrial Hygiene surveys, EHS&S audits, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in the design, set-up, implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems such as lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, electrical safe practices, fall protection, etc.  Candidate must be well-versed in OSHA regulations with particular emphasis in Title V and NPDES programs. This may include management of designated projects for improvement Chair the Environmental Subcommittee of the C.S.H.E. Provide timely interpretation of existing environmental regulations. Negotiate operational and environmentally sound permits for the Plant. Develop long range, strategic plans for environmental protection and provide training as required to facilitate implementation Act as plant TSCA coordinator. Survey planned and new environmental laws and regulations and communicate requirements and initiate required action to maintain compliance As needed, gather and analyze data required for permitting purposes.
