PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Safety Technician is responsible for driving a culture of safety excellence at the refinery. This position will provide leadership and support to allow all departments within the refinery to operate safely, respond to emergencies, and comply with all Federal and State regulations.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: . An associate's degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience.  Applicable safety certifications preferred.  Minimum of two years of directly related experience in an industrial environment, preferably in petroleum refining, petrochemical, or similar industry. . Experience in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, and accident prevention programs. . Leadership experience in fire protection, rescue, and emergency response preferred. . Ability to motivate others to action. . Must possess good human relations, leadership, organization, and written and verbal communication skills. . Must be willing and able to be "on call" for various plant emergencies 24 hours a day, and work as needed to ensure continuous safe refinery operations. . Safety, Health and Security Manager

Mining company in Colorado has an opening for a Safety, Health and Security Manager. Safety, Health and Security Manager who will be responsible and accountable for all facets of health, safety and security for the mine site. The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of site safety and security group as well as developing, implementing and sustaining solid safety and health practices for all employees. Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring the site and its employees are in compliance with all federal, state and, where applicable, local safety regulations. This person will also be responsible for site compliance with company Health and Safety programs, processes, SOP's and continuing the Safety Transformation (ST) effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead by example, in all safety and environmental processes, ensuring complete safe operations and meeting the goals of the Health and Safety group.  Provide strategic direction and leadership to the site regarding safety and health initiatives and programs.  Be regularly visible at all safety meetings, as possible, providing guidance and input at each meeting.  Be regularly visible throughout the mine and process sites on a regular basis.  Provide day-to-day direction and effective leadership to the Safety, Health and Security team.  Manage and ensure strict compliance and ethical behavior with state and federal regulations in all areas of operation.


Provide direction and guidance and accompany MSHA during site inspections as necessary.  Partner with Corporate Safety to drive and implement corporate safety initiatives. Work with Corporate legal and other groups when necessary to resolve legal issues. Oversee and provide direction in incident and accident investigations. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting with all investigations. Partner with all Managers and Supervisors in ensuring Health and Safety goals are being achieved. Partner with Human Resources in handling Workers Comp. issues and other health related issues.


Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week with some off shift coverage and shift work. Must also be available for emergency call out and quick response to the mine site in emergencies. Occasional travel required. Education and Training : Must have a four year degree in Safety, Mine Engineering, or related field. MSHA Surface Instructor certified by MSHA necessary. Underground Instructor a plus. Training or education with MSHA regulations and processes preferable.

Qualifications:  Must have 10+ years in the mining industry with surface mining experience. Underground mining and/or precious metals experience a plus.   Thorough experience and knowledge of MSHA regulations and mine safety practices.  Thorough knowledge of mine IH programs and practices, specifically dust and noise.  Five+ years leadership and management experience with Safety and Health professionals.  Knowledge and unwavering dedication to safety and health compliance and principals.

Regional SHESQ Manager

Responsible for the development and administration of applicable safety and health, environmental, quality and security (SHEQS) regulations and corporate programs and requirements at business units.
Duties: In accordance with corporate policies and procedures, implement and monitor SHESQ programs at business units.

Plant Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Manages and leads the EHS processes for the Ohio facility for continuous improvement of the environmental, health, and safety program within the plant. In addition, the role will require the individual to serve as a facilitator for required meetings and training sessions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The EHS manager will serve as an EHS liaison between management staff and the hourly workforce in the daily administration of the EHS program.  In addition, the position will require the individual to represent management during Company/Union EHS Meetings along with the other plant personnel. On a periodic basis, a formal facility EHS inspection is to be conducted in relation to applicable OSHA, EPA, ANSI and other regulatory guidelines and company best practices. Reports are to include findings and recommended actions to correct and/or eliminate identified hazards.

The EHS Manager will be responsible to lead management personnel in the investigations of plant incidents and complaints regarding unsafe working conditions and practices within the plant in order to identify immediate and root causes. In the event of a regulatory inspection of the plant (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local municipal, etc.), the EHS Manager will be expected to accompany the compliance officers with management personnel and union representatives. In the event of violations identified during a regulatory inspection, the EHS Manager will be expected to coordinate an action plan with plant management to address violations identified by the inspecting agency.


The EHS Manager will serve as a facilitator for hourly and supervisory employee EHS training. In addition, the EHS Manager will be expected to lead in new hire training on the 'on-boarding' process. All training will require the preparation of class outlines, maintenance of attendance records, and scheduling of classes through the coordination with department supervision.  The position requires the maintenance of all EHS required records / documents as specified by OSHA, EPA, and workers compensation. In addition, the EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring plant atmosphere and hygiene compliance.

 
This position is required to perform other duties as assigned by management, which may include purchasing applicable EHS supplies deemed necessary by plant management.  Responsible for preparation and completion of applicable reports and inspections required by permits and all other city, county and state permit requirements.


Collects and performs analysis of plant effluents and wastes. --- Assist sites with announced OSHA and EPA Compliance inspections (prep and attend) and help sites work through any citations or NOVs, enforcement.
--- Visit sites, work with on site resources, review implementation - audit, check and inspect to ensure compliance. Coach and mentor site PSM Resources.
--- Set up processes and forums for site employee participation in PSM. Ensure that the sites meets critical PSM compliance dates and has an effective PSM compliance calendar. Help sites estimate and secure resources for PSM compliance.
--- Work with Engineering SMEs (MI and PSI) & Safety Team SMEs and on Risk Reduction Project scoping, funding and implementation.
--- Participate in PSM SAT completion - sign off and verify. Validate PSM Audit Item closure.
--- Participate in any PSM Incident Investigations - ensure quality.
--- Serve as Point of Contact for PSM issues to business, help business drive risk reduction strategies.
--- Requires 50% annual domestic travel to drive PSM programs

Qualifications:
--- BS Chemical Engineering with 10+ years exp. in PSM, Process Engineering, or Plant/ Production Management in chemical manufacturing plant sites is required.
--- Strong background in effective PSM systems and demonstrated proficiency in process safety risk reduction. International experience preferred.
--- Solid understanding of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Program requirements.
--- Demonstrated skills in risk-based decision making, effectively aligning safety and business needs.
--- Experience with risk and consequence modeling tools desirable; layer of protection analysis, fault trees, dispersion analysis, thermal radiation and overpressure modeling.
--- Practical experience in process hazards analysis PHA tools in a manufacturing environment.
--- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; a team orientation, as well as the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels, inside and outside the organization.

Job Requirements: Minimum requirements include Technical degree preferred along with 10+ years of practical experience in chemical, petrochemical or refining facilities with at least 5 years in a PSM focused role.  Leadership capabilities and experience desired. Candidates should have experience in all elements of PSM including Layers of Protection Analysis. Must be willing to travel 25%.
