Our client is a growing, safety-driven company that is continuously striving to be the best in the business.  This individual will be responsible for maintaining the protection of the environment for the employees, customers and the community at one of their chemical plants in Southeast Texas.

 

Responsibilities include:  Assuring compliance to PSM standards; insure all environmental permits, licenses, exemptions, etc. are obtained and properly maintained; develop and implement procedures to assure plant compliance; stay abreast of new and existing regulations; continually assess the plant's environmental performance and evaluate the effective of the programs; establish issues to address action programs and assist in planning of long-range improvement of the plant; coordinate compliance inspections and responses to government inquires; oversee implementation of corporate environmental programs; play a leading role in the plant's Emergency Response and Outreach Programs in the community; maintain an effective working relationship with regulatory agencies;

Works with corporate HSE to develop and implement goals, standards, policies, and expectations regarding the company's PSM program. Contractor Safety Specialist

The Contractor Safety Specialist will provide technical expertise to manage and improve Site contractor safety at the site(s) to which they are assigned. (A Contractor Safety Specialist may have responsibilities for more than one location based on the size, complexity and activity of the site.) The position will work primarily at the daily task level and will be responsible for monitoring contractor safety programs, increasing contractor's safety awareness, and assisting the site in the realization of it EHS goals and Zero Incident Mindset. The ability to motivate and coach others at all levels of the organization is critical (business personnel, contract administrators, construction engineers, and site leadership). The result of the Contractor Safety Specialist work will be the protection of contractors and company assets by eliminating incident, injury, illness, property damage, and environmental risk. The Contractor Safety Specialist position has been created to facilitate and support the implementation of contractor safety programs at the employee level in the field.

The Contractor Safety Specialist will spend approximately 80% of their time in the field interacting with contractors and with all levels of site personnel responsible for directing daily activity of contractor personnel. The position will communicate with the Contractor Management Steering Team, Technical and Engineering Services (TES) Managers, Regional Service Center (RSC) Managers, Operations Managers, and Site Managers to evaluate Contractor Safety effectiveness and needs. The Contractor Safety Specialist must be a strategic thinker with the ability to influence others and gain concurrence and ultimately obtain resolution on a diverse range of topics. A willingness and motivation to attend training to develop additional skills will be required.

This position will require up to 50% travel. Travel will be to Midwest Region Service Center sites and are located within 4 hours of location. This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. BS Degree and minimum of 7+ years of professional experience, or an Associate's Degree and a minimum of 10+ years' experience, or a minimum of 12+ years of experience in a chemical/ petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment required. Requires familiarity with EHS and applicable construction safety regulatory standards. Must have basic computer skills. Must have generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/initiative, team leadership/collaboration, results orientation, organization awareness, and change orientation/management.
