Seeking an experienced Transportation and Logistics Manager to serve as the right hand to the Operations Manager at a major distribution center of a global chemical company.
Transportation expertise with leading a large team of drivers and fleet of vehicles is essential. Our client is a profitable, growing, $10B+ global company that provides specialty and commodity chemicals that are used in a wide variety of industries and manufacturing operations. This leadership role includes responsibility for multiple facilities that provide modern, efficient blending and packaging services and warehouse distribution operations. Essential Job Functions include: Oversee safe, efficient, legal and economical operation of all warehouse, packaging, and transportation activities for the distribution of quality products. Dispatch, route and manage all fleet vehicles, ensuring proper operations and maintenance at all times. Plan, organize and manage a team of drivers to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with company and customer requirements. Oversee all hiring, development, performance reviews and discipline of direct reports. Coordinate delivery schedules and modify schedules as required to meet customer needs. Facilitate high volume bulk unloading, repackaging, blending, quality control, labeling, and shipping logistics functions. Manage all customer interface issues, including complaint resolution as required. Ensure DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulatory compliance and implement corporate policy on health and safety, environmental affairs and operations standards, including all necessary training, documentation and record keeping. Identify and provide necessary resources for training in all regulatory areas to ensure all employees operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Qualifications include: Bachelors or Associates Degree in Management, Transportation, Logistics, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience with Transportation Management; dispatching experience is a plus. Experience with warehouse operations and shipping/receiving logistics, ideally in a chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or blending plant environment. 3-5+ years of Managerial or Supervisory experience with demonstrated capabilities of leading, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports. Experience managing warehouse operations, trucking/transportation fleet, shipping/receiving logistics. Highly organized, detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously. Skilled at multi-tasking, managing multiple priorities, and flexible to frequently changing customer demands. Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as, outside clients and vendors.
