Purchasing Engineer-Iron Casting

This position will manage New Program launches from the prototype phase through production launch, including cost estimating, Bill of Materials (BOMs), supplier selection, and handoff to Production Purchasing. Works closely with both Advanced PLB's and global GCM's to source NPI programs and components.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). At least 5 years of Purchasing experience with Iron Casting. At least 1 year of Program Management experience.  Must have at least 3 years of practical experience in the procurement of casting and machining processes.   
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook) required. Experience using SAP preferred.  Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal; good presentation skills; strong negotiation skills, and have the ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints.

Job will contain the following:   Assessing the manufacturing maturity of a new technology introduction and plans for its future maturation. · Continually reduces component costs through negotiations, long term agreements, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), Process Analysis, Design Reviews, and Supplier Selection.

· Develops new suppliers that meet BW cost, quality and delivery requirements.

· Attends as a key member New Product Release meetings and Quality Gate Reviews, including presentations to Senior Management.

· Leads prototype procurement meetings for Engineering and Prototype Model Shop.

· Leads Supplier Selection Meetings and presents recommended supplier.

Advanced Manufacturing Readiness for New Technology Development:

Target cost objectives have been established and manufacturing cost drivers are identified. Productivity assessments of design concepts have been completed with identification of the required resources.

5. Develop the capability to produce prototype components in a production relevant environment with a cost model construction to assess projected manufacturing cost.

6. Develop the Capability to produce a prototype system or subsystem in a production relevant environment, with key supply chain elements identified.

7. Develop the capability to produce systems, sub-systems, or components in a production representative environment

8. Demonstrate the Pilot line capability for Low rate Initial Production with Supplier Development Support.

9. Support the We Are Ready process conducted by SD if necessary to begin Full Rate Production.

Our long term Client of 20+ years is searching for the position of Manager, Trade Compliance - NAFTA, which will lead the North America Trade Compliance department to ensure compliance efforts satisfy the domestic and international laws and regulations for the import and export of products (including parts, whole goods, and components) between the company and its plants/depots, vendors/suppliers, dealers and customers for North America region including US, Canada and Mexico.


Responsibilities: - Coordinate resources to maximize the import/export compliance for whole goods, service parts and components to minimize adverse governmental actions while at the same time minimizing cost and providing delivery service and reliability - Develop, implement and maintain processes and systems for North America region customs import and export compliance. Review current processes and implement improvements where necessary. Ensure these processes are in line with Global Strategic Trade and Compliance Policy.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: Applicant will regularly communicate with engineering, product development, various plant personnel, and supply base through face to face meetings, emails, conference calls, etc and present business case to management for approval as needed. You will direct and manage the division transportation team responsible for managing 3PL and 4PL relationships, managing inbound and outbound freight movements, customs compliance, company compliance with DOT, negotiating terms with rail, ocean and truck carriers, meeting customer requirements and communicating with transportation vendors.


Responsibilities include: Distribution and Transportation Management: . Managing a team of 20+ employees, including workforce planning and scheduling, employee relations, and employee development. . Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment. . Participating, as needed, in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques. . Contract transportation management including freight audit and payment, carrier management, logistics design. . Logistics Finance including variance analysis, monthly expense forecasting, annual budget development, ad hoc freight analysis. . Ensure On-Time Shipments . Contract Customs compliance including NAFTA certifications, ITAR/BIS. . Manage inbound and outbound transportation network optimization coordinate efforts / develop strategies to achieve transport cost efficiencies. . Generate quotes for special freight moves. . Logistics costs management for HV frieght . Contract management for inbound/outbound freight movements including load consolidation, freight audit and payment. This individual must be capable of leveraging the transportation spend to achieve the lowest transportation cost with a high level of service. . ..You will develop departmental talent to achieve higher productivity and efficiency.

Requirements:  Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of Transportation Control management experience. . MBA degree is a plus. . Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferably SAP System. . Warehousing, Transportation, Logistics experience in a manufacturing environment. . Be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines daily with limited supervision. . Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Must have very strong and effective influencing skills and capable of gaining consensus. Should be able to effectively and efficiently navigate across the organization. Must be able to make the "tough choice" when confronted with complex decisions including people and demonstrate flexibility on resolving customer issues. Duties include:


Distribution and Transportation Management: . Managing a team of 20+ employees, including workforce planning and scheduling, employee relations, and employee development. . Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment. . Participating, as needed, in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques. . Monitor shipments; recommend shipping equipment and methods of packing. . Manage all customer shipping issues, including claims for loss or damage. . Ensure On-Time Shipment . Manage Distribution Cutting and Loading operations with responsibility for all fixed and variable costs (i.e. labor, transportation and packaging). . Manage inbound and outbound transportation network optimization coordinate efforts / develop strategies to achieve transport cost efficiencies.

Production Planning and Control: . Supervision and management of production control department personnel and processes. . Ensure inventory targets are met for Raw Materials, WIP and Finished Goods to achieve NWC requirements of the company, while balancing need to meet customer delivery expectations and remain competitive in the market place. . Develop and implement cost savings processes that will maximize lane utilization and reduce back office transportation costs. This individual must be capable of leveraging the total transportation spend to achieve the lowest cost with high service..You will develop departmental talent to achieve higher productivity and efficiency.
