The Global Sourcing Manager for North America will establish, implement and maintain a global supply chain that meets corporate objectives for quality, pricing and delivery.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Reports to General Manager and VP of Procurement, responsible for the overall performance and execution of outsourcing for North America. Works with each business unit to make sure the best supply chain is used for each product. Support the product manager, the engineering department and the aftermarket manager in their effort to reduce the costs of their product by indentifying projects, products that could be sourced differently, including in lower cost countries. Promote and enforce a low cost country approach when he judges it is a viable option. Require from division located in low costs country to identify suppliers. Qualify new suppliers, develop their manufacturing procedures and quality controls . Qualifies, develops and manages suppliers in accordance with ISO standards and corporate policies. Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge in commercial terms and conditions. Professional attitude, with the ability to develop excellent rapport with suppliers. Takes ownership of quality and delivery of all manufactured goods procured for North America from low cost countries. Provide technical support for estimating, manufacturing practices, product design, quality assurance and control, logistics and defect resolution. Assist Operation/Project Managers and customers in resolving manufacturing or design errors relating to fabrication, welding, protective coatings and erection or assembly. Performs all work in accordance with established safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Be open to develop an in-depth knowledge of the Asian cultural and business practices, and possessing strong negotiation skills in that environment. Certifications: AWS Certified Welding Inspector and NACE/SSPC Certified Coatings Inspector, preferred. The ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and manufacturing drawings. Work with minimal supervision, be highly motivated and performance driven. A basic knowledge of industrial Codes and Standards, i.e. ISO, AWS, ASME, AISC, API, UBC and OSHA. Must be detail oriented and manage priorities with accuracy and flexibility. Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as welding and machining is necessary. Ability to solve challenging cost of manufacturing issues; while maintaining quality and schedules. Comfortable to challenge the status quo.

Distribution Center/Logistics Manager

Position is with a publicly held international manufacturer. Looking for a strong distribution exec with a proven background in managing large distribution operations. Incoming products will come from Asian plants via ocean transportation. Currently they have two ships per week from one Asian facility and one per month from the other Asian facility, with products being off-loaded on the southeast coast and transported to their Distribution Center here in MS via common carrier. This facility has not been a full fledged Distribution Center, but more of a Warehouse in conjunction with an existing plant. The person we seek will turn this in to a dedicated distribution center and manage accordingly. He/she will also manage a Distribution Center on the West coast. A third-party company actually runs the transportation side of the business. This person will work closely with commercial teams and customers to provide demand forecast information. Will provide annual and quarterly distribution demand forecasts to global manufacturing operations. Will work with Strategic Sourcing group in developing the most cost efficient ocean and ground transportation. Managing inventory turns is of critical importance, so this person will function similar to a senior level Materials Manager. Will be converting over to SAP in the future (one Asian facility is already on SAP), so experience with SAP will be viewed as a significant plus. This person will also get a lot of face-time with customers. The preferred candidate will have a stable work history and possess excellent verbal and written skills. Materials Manager

The Materials Manager is responsible for inventory control, establishing appropriate inventory levels with consideration for demand (managing Kanban's and the PFEP program), re-supply and/or delivery and storage capacities. Compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas by performing the following duties.

 

§ Apply knowledge of Lean and Participation in Kaizen events to achieve operational excellence in line with business Systems.

Ideally, we are seeking US Citizen with China experience, as they will be the main liaison with USA (however will look at Chinese National with strong US Relations).

The Regional Transportation Manager must possess a high level of experience in the procurement of outbound and inbound transportation services. This includes: in-depth knowledge of regional market based pricing dynamics, costing dynamics for all transportation modes, and geographic transportation capacity dynamics to help company gain a competitive advantage by leading the procurement of the required transportation services at the lowest cost.

The Regional Transportation Manager is accountable for leading the Plants' establishment and maintenance of a carrier base (truck and rail) capable of meeting cost, service (reliability), and volume objectives for assigned plants, given changing future demand situations. This includes working with the plants on organizational capabilities, along with the ongoing carrier communications, development of negotiation strategies, carrier negotiations, railcar routing and pricings, and the prospecting for new transport modes, methods and new carriers that add value and strengthen the established base.

By providing daily direction and support to individual Traffic Coordinators and/or Transportation Planners, the Regional Transportation Manager must ensure that effective working relationships are established with the entire plant Logistics team and the Carriers who service company's business.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
30% - Accountable for leading the development and maintenance of a carrier base (including truck, rail and the private fleets) capable of supporting forecasted shipping volumes into planned sales territories, as well as actively participating in efforts to expand the carrier base to meet sourcing changes and demand spikes caused by sales promotions, seasonal buys, weather related events etc. Through this, along with the oversight of the activities of the Traffic Coordinators and or Transportation Planners, the Regional Transportation Manager is accountable for ensuring that all service, cost, and volume targets are met.

15% - Ensure organizational capabilities exist at assigned plants to meet goals, and provide organizational feedback, necessary transportation tools, training, and information and support when necessary.

15% - Continually work to identify savings opportunities across the network, such as the exploration of alternative modes of transportation for both inbound and outbound transportation.
10% - Co-develop negotiations strategy with assigned plants, Corp. Private Fleet Manager, and Corp. Rail Transportation Manager, to negotiate contracts and agreements with motor carriers and rail carriers doing business with company.

10% - Assures that Plant Transportation Planner and/or Traffic Coordinator is managing the performance of the carrier base (truck and rail), driving them to meet service reliability targets, through monitoring weekly, monthly and quarterly "Carrier Score Card" reviews.

10% - For assigned plants, accountable for ensuring 1) the required carrier documentation has been posted in MOSS to meet compliance for risk management, 2) the carrier rates have been posted in the Carrier Point System (TMS) in an accurate and timely manner, and 3) the rail carrier rates are accurate and tariff on file.

5% - Perform periodic process compliance and safety audits, at assigned plants, and take corrective action when necessary.

5% - Work effectively as a team member within the Logistics Department. Actively participate in a positive manner to implement, support, monitor, and achieve Logistics metrics and goals.

Manage risk involving Board level exposure and adherence to Customs rulings that, without compliance, can result in $M in fines, penalties, or inability to ship cross-border. Extremely visible role involved with policies, business rules, and reputation of Company in global theatre. Responsible for appropriate import/export paperwork, flows, classifications, and reporting with customers, Department of Homeland Security, U S Customs, Canadian Customs, NAFTA (Mexico), and a number of government agencies, e.g. FCC, DOT, EPA, FDA, USDA, CFIA, TSCA.
