Distribution
Center/Logistics Manager Central,

to $130,000 Position is with a publicly held
international manufacturer. Looking for a strong distribution exec with a
proven background in managing large distribution operations. Incoming
products will come from Asian plants via ocean transportation. Currently they
have two ships per week from one Asian facility and one per month from the
other Asian facility, with products being off-loaded on the southeast coast
and transported to their Distribution Center here in MS via common carrier.
This facility has not been a full fledged
Distribution Center, but more of a Warehouse in conjunction with an existing
plant. The person we seek will turn this in to a dedicated distribution
center and manage accordingly. He/she will also manage a Distribution Center
on the West coast. A third-party company actually runs the transportation
side of the business. This person will work closely with commercial teams and
customers to provide demand forecast information. Will provide annual and
quarterly distribution demand forecasts to global manufacturing operations.
Will work with Strategic Sourcing group in developing the most cost efficient
ocean and ground transportation. Managing inventory turns is of critical
importance, so this person will function similar to a senior level Materials
Manager. Will be converting over to SAP in the future (one Asian facility is
already on SAP), so experience with SAP will be viewed as a significant plus.
This person will also get a lot of face-time with customers. The preferred
candidate will have a stable work history and possess excellent verbal and
