Requirements: BS degree, MS preferred with minimum of 15 years operations experience: customer service, forecasting, supply and demand planning, MRP, DRP, distribution and warehousing and Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP). Must have extensive product background in agriculture, food, produce - understanding/ experience with short shelf life products.

Logistics Supervisor for a very large non-union auto parts plant near Cookville, TN. The plant has 800 employees and is part of a Fortune 500 International manufacturer. The plant manufactures products (OEM and aftermarket) which are the leaders in its field. The Company uses SAP and that experience is strongly preferred along with a working knowledge of Mainframe applications i.e; InfoPac, Cyborg, As/400 MacPac, Kronos, Interactive Query, Lotus Notes, IVIS 500, Client Access, SAP General Ledger, Hyperion, Accounts Payable, and SharePoint. A BS/BA degree is required along with 3-5 years of manufacturing plant experience. Auto parts experience is preferred. However, other high volume experience will be considered such as major home appliances and home air conditioners. This is a direct ( vs contract) position on the day shift and reports to the Materials Manager.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for performing basic accounting activities within a plant finance organization. Accounting activities performed may include posting, summarizing, reconciling, auditing, ledger maintenance, and statement and/or report preparation. Additional duties and roles completion of monthly closing activities, budget control and tracking vs. actual results, financial forecasting, inventory analyses, operating budget development and tracking purchasing analyses. Support the Plant Controller with monthly closing activities, annual budget development, overhead rate analyses, and standard cost updates. Support the Plant Controller with corporate requests to ensure company's ability to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Compile documentation supporting the plant's adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley Act control requirements and submit the same in a timely manner. The TMS Implementation Manager will support the TM Group efforts to focus on growing transportation management offering. Full understanding of build, trouble shoot, and manipulation processes of XML files required for the TMS implementation/maintenance process. Develop TMS technical functionality knowledge for potential future use (ex. Custom Distance Engine build). Ability to leverage data base query software (Toad) to access data in TMS database. Ability to leverage, update and maintain data loader (MS Access DB) for data integration to TMS. Leverage various mapping software (MS MapPoint, PCMiler, etc) from both a graphical display perspective and a data source perspective (ex integrate MS Excel and MS Access with PCMiler).

Tasks


-Participate in full cycle TMS implementations; from defining requirements through post go-live support.
-Builds the required TMS components per customer requirements. (ex. Locations, carriers, tariffs, etc).
-Develop and runs TMS functionality test scripts given customer specific set-up and transactional data.
-Complete and maintain TMS implementation documentation and system updates as required per assigned project.

Transportation expertise with leading a large team of drivers and fleet of vehicles is essential. Our client is a profitable, growing, $10B+ global company that provides specialty and commodity chemicals that are used in a wide variety of industries and manufacturing operations. This leadership role includes responsibility for multiple facilities that provide modern, efficient blending and packaging services and warehouse distribution operations.

Essential Job Functions include:
Oversee safe, efficient, legal and economical operation of all warehouse, packaging, and transportation activities for the distribution of quality products. Dispatch, route and manage all fleet vehicles, ensuring proper operations and maintenance at all times. Plan, organize and manage a team of drivers to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with company and customer requirements. Oversee all hiring, development, performance reviews and discipline of direct reports. Coordinate delivery schedules and modify schedules as required to meet customer needs. Facilitate high volume bulk unloading, repackaging, blending, quality control, labeling, and shipping logistics functions. Manage all customer interface issues, including complaint resolution as required. Ensure DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulatory compliance and implement corporate policy on health and safety, environmental affairs and operations standards, including all necessary training, documentation and record keeping. Identify and provide necessary resources for training in all regulatory areas to ensure all employees operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Qualifications include:

Bachelors or Associates Degree in Management, Transportation, Logistics, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience with Transportation Management; dispatching experience is a plus. Experience with warehouse operations and shipping/receiving logistics, ideally in a chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or blending plant environment. 3-5+ years of Managerial or Supervisory experience with demonstrated capabilities of leading, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports. Experience managing warehouse operations, trucking/transportation fleet, shipping/receiving logistics. Highly organized, detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously. This individual will also:

We are assisting a major International Employer seeking a Purchasing Partner to be located at one of their facilities in the Houston area. This Purchasing Partner will have responsibility for a predefined geography or category of spend of approximately $100MM within an assigned region for the organization. This individual will also:


- Manage the risks associated with important and strategic vendor suppliers including regulatory compliance with regard to policies of procurement and procedures

- Grow potential supply markets and provide expertise regarding market knowledge

- Assist with the development/implementation of geographical region or category sourcing strategies based on future goals and objectives

- Lend support with regard to strategic relationships to include the negotiation process of major agreements/contracts, performance of contracts and delivery of services

- Provide procurement representation to other divisions, such as the supply chain division or project teams

 

Qualifications:

- BS Chemical Engineering or Business degree preferred
- Must have chemical procurement experience
- 5 or more years of chemical plant and/or chemical manufacturing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience working in an international organization with geographical diversity
- Proven success managing multiple stakeholders involved in complex projects with both on- and off-site participants
- Currently residing in the Houston area or nearby oil corridor
- Computer proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook

KEY POINTS: Strategic view of the sourcing process. A good understanding of supplier management, leveraging new opportunities, and benchmarking - Leverage the competition for cost reductions and quality delivery - Drive technical cost reduction initiatives, how to work with a supplier, etc. - Create one's own opportunities and to really understand there is a great deal of analysis that goes into the decisions we make.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Manages the purchase of complex assemblies and components such as directional valves, manifolds and other mechanical components for NAFTA while supporting global hydraulic requirements as needed. Responsible for tactical and strategic activities involved with the purchase of critical production parts within the Hydraulic Cluster. Support product launch initiatives while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to improved quality, technology and timely delivery performance.

 

DIMENSIONS: Current spend is approximately $75M across responsible clusters in NA. This can fluctuate due to make vs. buy decisions, new sourcing, resourcing, and volume driven activities associated with this desk. Desk is comprised of multiple commodity codes covering several suppliers to support new launch, current production, and resource opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and sourcing for valves, brakes, accumulators, and other mechanical components for the company's manufacturing operations in North America. Negotiates piece price, R&D, and tooling for total cost containment during development and after supplier selection. Manages on-time tooling kick-offs and ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report) approvals. Researches industry trends, performs commodity market analysis, and presents strategic recommendations.

 

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: Applicant will regularly communicate with engineering, product development, various plant personnel, and supply base through face to face meetings, emails, conference calls, etc and present business case to management for approval as needed. All communication will require the ability to problem solve with collaborative approaches, negotiate internally and externally within the company for results needed, deal with stressful situations, and strive for long-lasting relationships.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree required. Engineering degree preferred (i.e., BSME, BSMET, BSIE, BS-AgE, or BS-MfgE). Will also consider Supply Chain Management or Operations Management degree/s. Minimum of about 8 years of experience within engineering, purchasing, and/or supply chain. Experience in analyzing, selecting, approving and auditing suppliers for different product platforms within a multi-plant heavy equipment manufacturing environment based upon supplier capability relative to testing, designing, supporting, quality and manufacturing. Experience developing and implementing commodity strategies. Strong negotiating background with knowledge of corporate purchasing practices and strategies that bring about closure of long-term agreements reflecting positive, future financial results for the company. Proven experience in mitigating supplier delivery, cost, and relationship issues with positive outcome for the company.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: MBA/Masters Degree preferred. Lean Sigma experience (green or black belt) preferred and/or CPM/CPSM/CPIM/CSCP certification/s. Strong knowledge of Corporate purchasing practices and negotiation strategies. Product cost management a plus. Experience with cost controls & reduction (VA/VE). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of ERP/MRPII systems preferred. Good analytical thinker and problem solving skills. Able to think outside the box. Strong knowledge of raw material analysis and tracking systems. Experience with the manufacturing functions and sourcing of highly-engineered components. Ability to incorporate co-design agreements, S.O.W. (statement of works), warranty agreements, etc, into the sourcing process and supplier selection. Experience in Quality Review process, including ISIR (Initial Sample Inspection Report), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
