Reporting to the Global Technology Integration & Development Director, in a very interesting environmental engineering company, you will work as the Project Coordinator / Project Manager and Technical Liaison for the international project engineering team. This position also partners with Sales & New Business Development interacting directly with customers. This is a highly visible position with about 30% travel including international travel.

Your title will be Technology Integration Engineer (TIE). This company, our client, partners with others to help deliver environmentally sustainable and affordable energy solutions; they provide engineered emissions control systems and assemblies. Since this position requires only 3+ years of on-the-job experience, this may  be an ideal opportunity for an up and coming engineer to work for a modern company in a highly viable position with a diversity of work. You will be involved in projects from start to finish such that you will know the impact of your efforts. RESPONSIBILITIES


This person will be at the center of project coordination assuring that the senior leaders in CA, the drafting design team in China and the mechanical engineers / I &C teams in NC are completing projects that accurately match the customer requirements. You will be the primary source of information for each of these groups to the project team serving as the Technology Integrator. These are the primary responsibilities: Review or draft sales proposals for US and global projects, including technical description of scope and pricing information Develop tools for modeling cost of emissions control equipment (SCR for gas turbines, low NOx burners for coal plants) based on historical project execution costs Act as a technical lead for US project execution, with responsibilities including leading technical teams in the US and China to complete a project in a timely and productive manner. Complete and review mechanical and process drawings and calculations related to project execution (for example, keeping in mind that the drafting team in China may have spelling errors in English) Draft and review technical specifications (again assuring that all customer requirements and local codes are met) Work as a team member on a global execution team. Support China-US technical integration needs as required, including with logistics,
planning and strategy, execution, and training.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

 

B.S.in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or process engineering (masters preferred) from a US or European institution. The instrument & controls (I&C) engineer will provide project engineering support from the customer request through to final project commissioning. The I&C Engineer will work closely with very closely with the International Project Coordinator, Project Managers , Procurement Manger, and the Engineering teams in the USA and Beijing offices to facilitate project execution. Expect about 10 - 20% travel including international travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Review customer technical specifications for I&C scope of work, identify critical issues, and provide summaries and solutions for the design team.. Interface with customers, vendors, and fabricators. Review and provide feedback on technical submittals from the China I&C Engineering team to ensure accuracy, conformance to specifications and design criteria, and conformance to local and customer design codes and standards. Participate in and leads I&C design work for US-based projects. The emphasis and expertise revolves around mechanical engineering skills (i.e. B31.1 piping design and stress analysis) but you will also participate in process design (front-end design): Lead and review process and mechanical engineering including: Process flow diagram (PFDs) and process & instrument diagram (P&IDs) development. Pipe sizing, stress, and support calculations. Skid mechanical layout design and checking. Mechanical design of tanks, pressure vessels, and other equipment according to ASME standards. Develop specifications for equipment including hot gas fans, chemical vaporizers, piping, expansion joints, dampers, and valves. QUALIFICATIONS

 

3+ years of experience in safety planning and execution. Knowledge of safety practices in the construction and engineering field. Ability to analyze data and implement strategies to maximize safety. Ability to train and motivate team to focus on safety. Well organized with analytical abilities to determine areas for safety improvement. Equivalent work experience in construction or engineering safety, and/or CHST, ASP or OSHA 500 Certified to train OSHA 10 and 30 hour Experience in Petrochemical, Power, Heavy Industrial preferred ISN experience Construction site environment (commercial, industrial, process plants)
