This position is responsible for providing Civil and Structural engineering support for several of the Regional Service Centers of this Global Chemical firm. You will need to be able to communicate effectively in teams and with leadership to support and review the proper design, purchase and installation of Civil and Structural systems according to regulatory and company standards. Areas of responsibility include executing small and medium complexity projects for the Civil / Structural discipline providing support in the development of basic and detailed design of new plants and their infrastructure. Senior Project Manager (Oil & Gas/Industrial Construction)

Sr. Project management Employee Management: Coach and mentor the project team staff. Provide day to day direction to the team. Ensure staffing plans are developed and functional coverage is maintained for the Project.  Align the group to the Managed Transfer Process, and be directly involved with the team's progression opportunities. Perform Performance Management reviews on direct reports to enhance employee development. Work with the Client to finalize agreement on the turnover plan (and commissioning where applicable), which will identify the roles responsibilities. Review all performance indicators on a shift basis, and as part of the monthly construction and business operation reviews. Provide input and take actions where required to hit targets. Align the project team to the contractual obligations and participate in contract review meetings. Conduct lessons learned sessions at key milestones identified within the construction execution plan in order to drive continuous improvement of the project and processes.  Review all performance indicators each shift and provide input/take action where required to ensure targets are met.

Manage and apply risk management to any project risks to ensure risk is minimized. Manage the manpower loading requirements by reviewing the bi-weekly manpower forecast and prioritizing labour loading based on project requirements and business priorities. Work with the Project team and client to finalize agreement on the system turnover plan, which will identify the roles and responsibilities and deliverables of client team. Work with the Functional Team Leads to align their functional plans and deliverables based on the project schedule. Develop the project documentation plan and oversee the management of the project documentation. Develop and implement the Project Communication plan.  Forecast project revenues and margins. Conduct monthly analysis to identify opportunities to meet project targets. Manage project cash flows by analyzing revenue in excess and accounts receivables.  Drive actions within the project to achieve project targets. Oversee preparation and delivery of the Financial Project Closeout Report.

 

Communication:  Develop the construction execution plan and manage to the plan through regular meetings with project team.  Hold both parties accountable for delivery of materials and engineering packages as defined within the project execution plan. Establish, communicate and execute project priorities as they apply to the Divisional Strategy and Client Contract 


Document Administration: Approve and submit any invoice/timesheet expenses which have business unit expenditures to the appropriate projects. Complete and submit monthly documents to the appropriate departments. (e.g. timesheets, expense reports, etc.).

Since its founding, our client has developed multiple power projects in ten countries across six continents. Currently, the company is looking for a Project Development Engineer to join its corporate and regional teams dedicated to exploring new growth opportunities.


Reporting to the VP, Operations & Engineering, the Project Development Engineer manages the engineering, EPC Contracting, and preliminary EPC activities during the project development phase.  The Project Development Engineer supports the development team by providing all relevant technical and commercial input required to develop projects, submit bids, analyze prospective acquisitions, and achieve financial close on assigned projects.

Supervision Received:  Position will be assigned to specific development or acquisition opportunities and will receive functional guidance from VP, Operations & Engineering and project guidance from assigned development team Project Manager.

Supervision Exercised:  Supervision of outside consultants and the selected Engineering firm acting as Owner’s Engineer.

§  Determine scope of supply requirements for EPC contracts. Manages and provides technical, performance, and pricing data for screening of early stage project development.

§  Works in Development teams to oversee technical issues, including the creation of winning strategies for competitive bidding and the preparation of the technical portion of proposals.

§  Manages Owners Engineer and other third parties completing engineering studies under technical service agreeents during acquisition due diligence, screening, full scale development, and the project financing process. 

§  Responsible for budget and schedule for engineering deliverables including the Owners Construction Budget, Scope Book and related Project Contracts.

§  Insures that EPC contracts are properly aligned with the PPA, FSA and other relavent project documents at both the bid stage and after the award of a mandate

§  Negotiates EPC contract terms and conditions.

§  Negotiates technical issues, including scope of supply and equipment performance, with clients and the EPC contractor

§  Supports corporate initiatives related to the Operations and Engineering function including issues related to clients, contractors, vendors, technology, procedures, and standards.

§  Supports the environmental impact assessment and the public consultation processes on assigned projects.

§  Supports the Lender’s due dilagence process, managing and supporting the efforts of the Lenders Engineers and providing technical input to Lenders in support of Financial Close

§  Supports unplanned, unforeseen special initiatives or requirements as needed.  Sources data, identifies and develops viable options.

§  Performs other tasks as directed by the VP, Operations & Engineering as needed to support plant operations and corporate growth initiatives.

 

Education or Equivalent:

§  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.

§  EPC contract terms and conditions and experience with the negotiation of EPC contracts, contract change orders and dispute resolution experience.

§  Cost estimating methods for major equipment associated with power plants and complete turnkey power plants.

§  The potential environmental impacts of power plants and mitigation measures

§  CPM scheduling methods and techniques
