You will start as the Head of the Airport Noise Abatement Division. You will have 4 project managers reporting to you and they in turn usually have a staff of 12 or so plus 8 or 10 other consultants. One of my (NPA) best clients; #1 chemical company with many sites nationwide & global. Position exists for a Construction Engineer to be responsible for large capital projects nationwide. Must be willing to travel 75% of time and live temporarily (12-18 months) at a time while projects are underway at different locations. Base location would be somewhere on gulf coast (Texas or Louisiana).

 

Description: This position is responsible for representing Company on the construction of large projects throughout North America. As such, this person will provide front-end input to project managers to develop construction strategies and schedules, and also provides the interface between the Companies project team and the construction contractors. Primary responsibilities include the management of the construction site with regard to safety, quality, schedule, cost, and compliance to specifications. Specific tasks include: Serve as the primary Company interface to the Construction contractor, project team, operations, and engineering groups; especially with regard to installation and execution activities and resolving field problems. Provide technical expertise and consultation (constructability) in the design, contract development/bidding, and construction phases of projects. Coordinate site visits, interpret bid specifications, explain site specific security and safety regulations. Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe worksite. Has pro-active involvement with contractors to prevent accidents and injuries. Conducts incident investigations if necessary. Closely monitors contractors and provide guidance to ensure full understanding of the scope and minimize construction claims. In general, must be able to analyze and choose low cost alternatives in execution of the work. Continually inspects the construction work to assure that job schedules are maintained and that work is being performed safely and per codes and design specifications.

 

Must be constantly vigilant to ensure that quantity and quality of materials, equipment, and contract labor meet contract requirements. Documents field activities and produces necessary reports on a weekly and monthly basis. Coordinates duties of other construction engineers and/or contract inspectors. Supports Project Team in the review and authorization of field changes. Verifies and approves invoices to validate accurate with respect to work performance and/or equipment delivered, and recommends approval for payment. This position may require periodic temporary relocation across North America for project assignments. Qualifications Technical knowledge obtained through at least 10 years chemical, petro-chemical or refinery construction experience and earning a BS degree in engineering, or equivalent technical know-how gained through industry experience. Experience with petro-chemical plant construction techniques and demonstrated knowledge of various engineering design disciplines. Be familiar with quality control techniques and their application in the construction industry. General knowledge of project execution and ability to manage non-technical phases of construction (e.g., planning and scheduling, material receiving, progress tracking, etc.). Be able to understand and enforce contract documents. Act independently regarding most daily and weekly activities, and interacts with supervising manager usually on a consulting and reporting basis. Project Controls Manager

This Client has announced plans to build one of the First Commercial-Scale Ethanol Plants using a proven-thermochemical process with Municipal Solid Waste as feedstock.  Their technology is outstanding and quite different from the usual Biofuels government sponsored projects.  The company is located in California, although the EPC firm designing  the plant has yet to be chosen and initial job assignment will be in the their offices before moving to actual plant site in the beautiful Tahoe-Reno, NV area.

 

Details: Will be based out of our corporate office, Pleasanton CA, with initial assignment at the EPC office (location to be disclosed shortly). Responsibilities will be around monitoring, tracking and reporting the engineering and construction schedules and costs of BioFuels from design to implementation. Looking for a minimum of 5 years project controls experience within an engineering and construction environment, preferably in the refinery or petrochemical industry.

 

Base salary range of $80 - 140K (prefer around $100K) plus a target cash bonus of 25% of base, as well as stock options. Our client is a national engineering and construction firm with a long history of providing engineering and construction services to Los Alamos National Laboratory (http://www.lanl.gov).  They are looking for someone to carry on the management of their work with nuclear energy related projects.  Ideally, they need someone who has current or past experience working with the LANL facility to manage both the technical and administrative aspects, including a small technical staff and all aspects of administration, Finance, HR compliance, etc. 

 

You will be responsible for planning, directing, supervising and controlling all technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the site and manage the overall programs and actively collaborate in proposals, estimating, planning and pricing for new work and lead the proposal development team. One key requirement is that you must be willing to actively participate in business development activities with LANL.
